By now, we all should know that size never matters.
Except, that is, when it comes to anal sextoys, as none of us Homo sapiens have exactly the same-sized or shaped anus—or an equivalent level of experience when it comes to inserting specialty-designed objects up there.
This is why having an entire range of them, from large to small, and all points between, is important as it allows everyone to have a good time, whatever their internal dimensions or amount of time spent with anal sex playthings.
Lovense is well aware of all this, having given us their beginners and intermediate-sized Hush 1 teledildonic Butt Plugs, and now they’re recently released and thoroughly upgraded and—if possible—more enjoyable one and two and a half-inch Hush 2s.
Taking a deep dive into these new toys, let’s see what they have in common and what they don’t, how they each work, and which Hush 2 could be the best fit for either anal sex novices or seasoned veterans.
Examining the one-inch Hush 2 (XS)
Suppose you’re intrigued by the idea of playing around with your ass. In that case, the first thing to keep in mind before doing anything is to not let your erotic hunger lead to biting off more than you can chew.
That is, restrict your early sex purchases to smaller instead of larger-sized toys. The logic here is you and your anus are inexperienced; getting something in and taking something out might otherwise be uncomfortable or potentially painful.
That’s not all, as size isn’t the only thing to consider. For example, suppose you have a teeny, egg-shaped butt plug. In that case, its width can be decidedly problematic when inserting or withdrawing it.
I’d also like to take a moment to discuss why you shouldn’t, as in never use anything except toys designed precisely for anal play—including other sextoys like vibrators or dildoes.
For one thing, as the anus does and will pull stuff in, it’s frighteningly easy for things to get stuck up there. Just ask any emergency room staffer, as they routinely get people coming in with everything from lightbulbs to carrots stuck up their butts.
For the other, anal tissues are delicate and easily torn, which is an essential fact any good anal toy manufacturer must consider when designing or manufacturing their products.
Okay, returning to the smaller-sized Hush 2, it’s ideal for beginners precisely as Lovense didn’t just shrink its larger brethren but completely changed its shape and length to make it as easy as possible to put up and then take out of your butt.
As in it’s perfectly cylindrical, tapering only at the top and section immediately in front of its flared base. Back to egg-shaped toys and how the smaller size of those will probably be too much for anal sex newbies, this Hush 2’s shortness, thinness, and straight-up-and-down shouldn’t strain on your nether regions or offer any resistance when extracting it.
Like any good anal sextoy, it has that aforementioned flared base to prevent it from getting pulled so far up your ass and avoid one of those embarrassing trips to the ER.
On top of this, its shape and sturdiness mean you can get and maintain a good grip on it—this is vital as you can’t have safe or comfortable anal sex play without loads of specially formulated lube.
Another great feature of the smaller Hush 2 is how it narrows before the base, preventing the user’s anal sphincter from being uncomfortably stretched during use and helping to prevent ouchie conditions like hemorrhoids.
Large and small Hush 2 are equipped with all the state-of-the-teledildonic-art Lovense goodies you’ve probably come to know and love.
Like these and other Lovense toys work so well with the Lovense Remote Android or iPhone app and either the PC or Macintosh desktop version. Once connected, which is usually just a second or two, users can take complete control of the toy—far more than they could use its built-in controls.
Users can also make and if they are so inclined, share their own vibration playlists with others; have someone take control of the toy or link it to another Lovense smart product for some give and take teledildonic shared fun; have it dance along with your favorite tunes or accompany whatever sounds you or your partner make; and if interactive adult entertainment is your bag, it takes the very briefest of snaps to feel along with what’s happening in an adult video or explicit video game.
What about the 2 ½ inch Hush 2 (L)?
These toys are not alike in size and shape—with the larger, two-and-a-half-inch version, obviously more girthy and longer.
And why it’s an ideal example of how to graduate from an anal sex cadet to a well-heeled vet. I’ve already mentioned how when you’re a beginner, the name of the game is to put as little strain on your virginal ass as possible.
However, as you and that part of your body get used to occupation by a sextoy, you’ll likely crave something more—and when it comes to upping this anal ante, most have found a few additional inches will do the trick.
Though there are safety and comfort considerations here as well, all of which are in the two-and-a-half-inch Hush 2. Like its smoothness, made with non-reactive, body-safe silicone, it has a flared base and isn’t excessively wide to stave off anal sphincter stress and strain.
The larger Hush 2 comes with an identical part and parcel of amazing electronics for interactive, shared, or fine-tuned, sexual adventuring like its smaller iteration.
How alike are the Hush 2’s?
Large or small, each Hush 2’s is made of high-quality, body-safe silicone. This not only makes sure they won’t irritate those sensitive tissues I talked about but makes cleaning up before and after easy peasy.
This is another important reality about anal sex, as dust, dirt, body fluids, or [COLLOQUIAL WORD FOR FECES] can be very bad news for you or your partner—ass or otherwise.
Their shared skins are equally good for people into bath or shower play. Just don’t use excessively hot water or take them to the ocean or even a hot tub, as any of these will damage silicone.
Large or small, they share Lovense’s well-respected hardware and software, which I’ve said over and over is the toppest-of-top-notch when it comes to what you can use it for, how well and easily it works, and Lovense’s dedication to improving their customer’s experience with it.
They also come with a magnetic charging cable, storage bag, a Quick Start Guide, and User Manual that are equally accessible on the Lovense site.
How are the Hush 2 toys not alike?
The most apparent difference between the Hush 2 butt plugs is their dimensions.
The smaller is 4.72 inches long, of which 3.86 is insertable, one inch in diameter, and narrows to barely half an inch at its 2.64 flared base.
The larger is 5.91 inches long, 5.16 insertable, is 2.25 at its widest, and above its 3.15 handle is .98 inches.
Not all that apparent is how they differ regarding charging versus playtime: the smaller Hush 2 takes 40 minutes for two hours of use while the larger needs two and a half hours for an insanely impressive 11 hours.
Pros of the small Hush 2 over the large
If you haven’t logged many hours putting things up your butt— and I sincerely hope what you have used was designed for it and not something you randomly grabbed off a shelf—the smaller Hush 2 is hands down what you should be getting.
Leading with Lovense, building it for newbies in mind: narrow to avoid painful stretching, tapered near the base not to irritate the anal sphincter, nicely-sized handle so if it gets too much or you’ve had enough, safely extracting it will be a breeze.
Pros of the large Hush 2 over the small
Contrary-wise, if you’re well versed in the pleasures of anal sex—and anal sextoys—I see no reason not to choose the smaller Hush 2 over, the larger model.
Saying that I think it’s worth amending my recommendation a tad as though you feel you’ve been there, done that, and have the anal t-shirt, it doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll want one and only one Hush 2.
For instance, if you take a break for an extended period, your ass may need to be treated gingerly until you both get back into the swing of it—which is where the smaller Hush 2 could come in until you do.
This is one of those rare occasions when I can’t say which size Hush 2 is the best.
After all, the whole idea of having two toys, each for different anal sex experience levels, means at least one of them is sure to make you moan with delight.
But as I quibbled a bit about choosing only one—as if you know the ins and outs of anal play you understand now and again it may be too much to handle, difficult to get back into the rhythm of things after a lengthy break—it could also be argued if you’ve dabbled and enjoyed anal insertion toys, aren’t ready for the big times, picking up a small and large Hush 2 makes a lotta sense since you’ll be graduating from one to the other in no time.
No matter the size, each Hush 2 is sex-tech engineering at its finest, backed by Lovense’s well-deserved reputation for top-tier manufacturing and especially their Remote app: guaranteeing large or small, or with any other product they make, erotic delights are right around the corner.
